Auxerre and St Germaine

This tour is about things medieval - most of which are churches.  

Today we ventured south to Auxerre, in Burgundy. 


Inside....

 

But we got down to the crypt - where the bodies are buried.  This is the tomb of St Germaine.


A truly medieval space


Outside - this is not a campanile.  It is a tower that was supposed to be part of the west door, which was never finished.  Apparently elements of this tower are also present in Chartres cathedral.
