Chinese New Year in Singapore

I know it is supposed to be lunar new year - and it is - but in Singapore it has been known as Chinese new Year for as long as I can remember to differentiate it from the festivals of Malays/Muslims, Christians and the Indians.

There are lights everywhere and it is quite a festive atmosphere.

Sewing in Singapore

Mandatory visit to my favourite sewing shop in Singapore.  After several visits over the years, I think I have been sold most of what they have.  I like it even more because it is deep in Singapore's heartland so I feel rental costs aren't an issue and the prices reflect this.

I got talking to the man who I have seen most of the times I have been there.  It turns out he is the original Ban Soon's son.  He is very knowledgeable

And being in the heartland, you can find traditional, Singapore things to eat on the way home!
