28. Berlin - Ampelmann and around our hotel.

Anne told us about Ampelmann.  Since our hotel is in the former East Germany, we soon saw him.

Apparently he is the street sign man used in East Germany, and has developed a cult status (according to Wikipedia).  He is one aspect of East Germany that has survived.  Haven't seen any Ampelfrau yet.

The streets are so wide that it sometimes takes two changes of lights to get across.

And this segues onto the street scene around our hotel.  Say no more.  Reminiscent of some Chinese cities, with its wide streets and square architecture.  No doubt there are practical advantages.
