Rels, train and Fort Canning.

Yesterday and today were rel visiting days.  Good to catch up with people - a few hours to get the goss and for the most part, that is it until next year. I had a fascinating chat to a man who makes his living from blogging.  One new development I have seen is families wearing co-ordinated outfits.  In a large gathering, it makes it easy to see who a child or adult is related to - a brilliant idea!  Sorry I don't have a pic. except this one from Google.

We have been using the new downtown line which goes from our hotel to Beo Lan's place in 98 seconds.  It is a driverless, metro style, service,  presumably like our new NW Rail Link will be.  It is a smaller train and comes comes every 4-5 minutes. Which means you can sit up the front - or the back.  Not sure why they need headlights though - there isn't a driver!
And coming to a station.

This morning we went for a walk at Fort Canning, which has been extensively developed and maintained for walks etc.  It is one of the earliest settlement sites in Singapore, and also where the British Command was and where the decision to surrender to the Japanese was taken.

A couple of pics.

And a huge strangler fig.
Looking up.

Tomorrow we have lunch with Chin Siong and family and then head off to Calcutta!

And Barnaby still hanging on!
