Incredible India

One thing about going to India, you get value for money!  Our Indian experience began before we even left Australia - applying for the visa!

First there is the form - make sure you know where your parents were born.  They also want a photograph, 2" by 2".  So we went to our local post office, and the lady there just put her face in her hands and said "Oh no, not India!"  We can't do that, go to Epping she said.   So off we went to Epping and got our hard and digital pics.    With all that done, we pressed "submit" and got yet another long number allocated to us.

That is just the application part.  Next you have to figure out how to process it, which is done by a completely different company.  We managed to find that out by some alert website surfing and spotting, and made an appointment to lodge all this at Kent Street.

But wait, there's more. We fronted up at the allocated time, with all our printed copies of forms, pics, passports etc. Kin Mun was accused of having the signature page torn out of his passport!!!  Why would he do that?  Fortunately the lady serving me was au fait with various passports and showed his lady where the signature was, on a page that obviously wasn't torn out.

A week later, after yet another trip to Kent Street, we have our visas!   All systems go!

One good thing about our visa application experience was that we had a chance to have a good look at Barrangaroo and found a lovely cantonese food place.  After all, we will be dining out on Indian food for a whole 2 weeks, so there is no need to start just yet.
