Eucla. Penong, Head of the Bight.

We are in Eucla tonight.  There is nothing here except the motel!  It is so quiet, and we have ocean views of the Great Australian Bight!  But no wi-fi and only Telstra phone coverage.  Kin Mun has set up a network with his phone.  Will see how the pics go.  Our motel room below.

Highlights along the way.

Penong Windmill Museum.

The biggest one - 35 feet.

And they even had a  wind-charger

The Head of the Bight.

Windswept hairstyles.  Not just Windy Hill in Queensland!

Obligatory photos

The only thing on four legs we have seen was a dingo this evening.

The highway also doubles as a landing strip for the Royal Flying Doctor.  Only needs a short runway though - not for 747s.

Another lookout

And a view of the ocean from the Eyre Highway

We are definitely the minority being in a sedan. We passed about 10 today, compared to countless 4wds, with or without caravans, and trucks.  Thus far being in a sedan has not been a problem - although I must say we had to pick our way carefully through a road with big potholes when we ventured off the sealed road to one ocean lookout.  Traffic does not go fast - we keep to the nineties and most others do too.  Passed (in the opposite direction) three folks on pedal vehicles. One managed to smile.

And we are now in Western Australia!
