Southern Cross to Perth, via Meckering

Southern Cross was our last night before reaching Perth.

It was Easter Sunday, there was no-one around and we were the only guests in our motel.  We could have got dinner at the pub, but it was an hour wait.

The only other option was BP or Shell - we chose Shell, for dinner and breakfast.

The streets were even wider than those in Longreach.  As Ian said, you do a U turn and end up on the same side of the street!

Then we went through Meckering. It had suffered a 6.9 earthquake in October 1968. Reminders were everywhere.

Ruins of a house just outside town.

There was the promise of seeing the faultline. We had to go to a local road to find it.

Part of the fault-line had been preserved - this bit.  There was no evidence of it on the other side of the road.  Makes you wonder about all the other ridges you see around you.

Because of this detour, along a side road we saw the small town of York. Very pretty and many more people than Southern Cross.  Too hungry to take pics!

Then back to the main road towards Perth

The we started to get this.....

The price of good of wi-fi at your hotel!

So now in our hotel and catching our breath...
